Steamboat Springs is a beautiful place to be in every season. Winter offers world-class skiing and snowboarding at Steamboat Ski Resort, as well as snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice fishing, and other winter sports. Spring brings blooming wildflowers, and excellent rafting and kayaking on the Yampa River. There is a saying here: People come for the winter but stay for the summer. Mild temperatures and endless outdoor activities make summer in the boat ideal. Fall has breathtakingly beautiful colors with golden aspen leaves, hot springs to soak in, and great hunting opportunities. Overall, Steamboat Springs is a wonderful place to enjoy all four seasons with a variety of outdoor activities and breathtaking scenery.

  • July is typically Steamboat’s warmest month, hitting an average high of 82°. Steamboat’s record hot day was June 29, 1990, when the temperature reached 100°.
  • The Steamboat Ski Area receives an average of 312 inches annually. Downtown Steamboat averages 180 inches annually. A new snowfall record was set with 489 inches measured at mid mountain in 2008.

GETTING HERE

DRIVE: Steamboat Springs is about 160 miles northwest of Denver, a three-hour drive.

BUS: Steamboat’s offers a complimentary local bus service that runs continuously from about 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. daily.

FLY: The Steamboat Springs Airport, aka Bob Adams Field, is three miles west of downtown and has a 4,700-foot runway for general aviation including light business jets and turbo-prop aircraft. Jet fuel and aviation gasoline are available during business hours. Rental cars are also available with prior reservations.

THE YAMPA VALLEY REGIONAL AIRPORT: Located 22 miles west of Steamboat Springs, near Hayden. The Yampa Valley Regional The Yampa Valley Regional Airport (HDN) currently has air service from United, Southwest, American, Delta, JetBlue and Alaska Airlines with direct flights to and from Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas/Fort Worth, Dallas/Love Field, Nashville, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, Newark, Washington DC, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis and Denver (with connections to 350 other destinations).Getting here has never been easier through the resort’s nonstop flight program and the recently renovated. Storm Mountain Express and Ski Town Transportation provide shuttle service from Hayden.

DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT: Daily shuttle services transport passengers between Steamboat and Denver International Airport.
